OK, so, reviewing the first post, I'm not sure I've alerted you all to how weird this novel will be. The desire for "japery" in the title implies it, but. It's not going to be about combat, nor will it be historically accurate. Basically, the Western Front seems like such a unique setting, and WWI such a time of global change that I couldn't resist. But really, the novel's going to be about how these people deal with living on the front, the psychology and fantasy and madness and hope and stuff like that. Dead people as characters! A meditation on limes! Etc!
